1957年出生于纽约，1982年,Laura Branigan凭一首《Gloria》获得格莱美最佳女歌手提名，其后,又推出了她的《Self Control》等多张专辑，先后赢得格莱美4度提名。声音高亢、略沙哑又带奔放的萝拉擅长以欧陆舞曲风格赋予旧曲新生命并且选曲上有独到的国际色彩，数首畅销曲都是以英文翻唱意大利歌曲像在美国拿下亚军的Gloria；Ti Amo还有1984年度台湾地区英文歌曲票选总冠军Self Control。随后的日子里，Laura Branigan为Michael Bolton创作的情歌《How Am I Supposed To Live Without You》，把她的歌唱事业推向新的巅峰。
被席琳迪翁(Celine Dion)唱红的Power Of Love也是Laura Branigan的佳作。
2004年8月26日清晨不幸于纽约家中在睡梦中去世，享年47岁。根据她的家人表示，Laura是因为脑部动脉瘤破裂而导致死亡，Laura生前并不知道自己罹患这个疾病，不过她在两周前曾向家人抱怨说她头痛，只是一直没有就医，没想到竟然因为没有发现这个脑部动脉瘤而导致她英年早逝.
