Straits Times 2 Sep 1984 - Part 1:['A room of many moods', reads the sign outside the Hilton Hotel's music room. Inside sat Taiwanese pop star Liu, and it wasn't difficult to tell which mood he was in that afternoon. The singer was retrospective(我纠正报导的英文,应该是introspective), almost philosophical. The spotlight was on his career. "I am really tired, too tired. I have been singing too much. .....(Contd) j=aI9p

The StraitsTimes 2 Sept 1984 - Part2 -"I feel I'm at saturation point. I've got to get away for a spell and think things over. What I need is a change." He's all geared up for a change. Right after his stint until 7 Sept, he will leave for LA to begin a year-long holiday - far, far away from recording studios, nightclubs and concert halls. And when he returns, fans should see a revitalized Liu - at least where his singing style is concerned. Rather than sing uptempo New Wave songs, the 30-year old superstar hopes to return to his old style, singing more mature sentimental numbers. New Wave songs don't last. It is the slow sentimental numbers that become evergreen. Anyway, sentimental songs have been my favorite all long. There will be less jumping and prancing onstage, he added. >kp?vK;'B

The ST 2 Sept 1984 - Part3 - "I've been working non-stop for the past 8 years without a proper holiday. I think it's time I put some effort into the property business I share with my brother in the US. I don't know how much longer I'm going to continue singing, though. I can't say I'll stop in 2 years' time. It all depends. But my fans are also an important consideration - I feel an obligation towards them. I would like to produce records and do some behind-the-scenes studio work.....To be contd

Part 4 - Weary as the man sounded, he certainly didn't look it. Dressed in a black sleeve-less T-shirt, khaki pants and boots, WenZheng looked like he'd just popped out from one of his innumerable pinup posters - forever the suave teen idol. But it's evident that he's mellowed with the career that has seen him through 30 albums and just as many films. Not to mention countless live performances all over HongKong, Taiwan and South East Asia. 8'nVwb8I

Part 5 - At the end of each year, I ask myself what I've done with my life. Then wish I could have accounted for it better than with a list of just albums and concerts. Honestly, I feel I should be thinking of doing something else with my life, my private life...(Was there a hint of marriage for one of showbiz's most eligible bachelor? He sat back in his chair, paused. ..Well...yes, she's complained. I really should be thinking about marriage. It's just that I don't feel ready for the commitment." b+6\JE^Mz
